#018 – Stevyn Guinnip, wellness coach for financial folks, calls herself a “wellth advisor.” Her own health crisis at age 40, precipitated by age, hormones, a desk job and high stress left her in a state where her body aged dramatically essentially overnight. Conventional wellness wisdom failed her. Ultimately she saw this crisis as a gift: it gave her a new understanding of aging and how to build “wellth,” an asset to protect and grow for more long-term choices and security, in a similar way to building wealth. More than 95% of retirees say health is more important than wealth to a successful retirement, yet health and healthcare are the financial planning “wildcards.” Stevyn helps advisors understand that health is a critical pillar of wealth and should be a part of comprehensive financial planning for both their clients and themselves. She guides her advisor clients to improve their own health in manageable and sustainable ways so they can better support those they care about and live a happier life with more choices. She believes financial services professionals are in a unique position to support wellness for their own clients, too, providing resources for advisors to drive both their own and their clients’ long-term financial stability.
